About Carl Martin
East Sound Research began as a PA rental business and soon moved into audio equipment. Its first Carl Martin pedal, the Hot Drive’n Boost, appeared in 1993. Around 50 pedal models have followed, along with hand-wired valve amplifiers and cabinets.
After Jongberg died in 2023, the company passed in 2024 to Thomas Svenstrup, owner of DanGuitar.dk. Technicians who worked on earlier designs remain on the team, and the PlexiTone is among its best-known pedals.
