MXR
MXR is a US effects brand founded in Rochester, New York, in 1972; MXR pedals for guitar and bass are now made by Jim Dunlop Manufacturing. It is best known for compact stompboxes such as the Phase 90 phaser, the Dyna Comp compressor, the Distortion+ and the Carbon Copy analogue delay. Founders Keith Barr and Terry Sherwood moved from a repair shop into manufacturing after designing early phase-shifter circuits.

About MXR
MXR Innovations was incorporated in 1974 and expanded its line through the mid-1970s with pedals such as the Blue Box, Distortion+, Dyna Comp, Phase 100 and Flanger, later adding rack units. Financial and organisational strain led the original company to close by the end of 1984. Jim Dunlop Manufacturing later acquired the MXR name and licensing rights and restarted production of classic models with updated power and LED features, then broadened the catalogue with new designs.
Under Dunlop, MXR is based with the rest of the firm’s electronics production in Benicia, California. The current range covers reissues and Custom Shop recreations of early circuits, modern pedals such as the Carbon Copy analogue delay, bass-focused boxes, artist signature models, and utility gear including power supplies and gates. For players comparing phase, compression, distortion and delay pedals, MXR is a reference catalogue that spans well-documented vintage circuits and continuing Dunlop-era designs.
