EarthQuaker Devices

EarthQuaker Devices is a US maker in Akron, Ohio, where EarthQuaker Devices pedals for guitar, bass, keyboards and synths are designed and hand-built. They span fuzz, overdrive, delay, reverb and modulation: the first production model was the Hoof fuzz, and the current range includes the Plumes overdrive, the Dispatch Master delay and reverb, and the Silos delay, each assembled and tested in-house.

About EarthQuaker Devices

Musician Jamie Stillman founded the firm in 2004 after repairing a broken overdrive and selling one-off builds. Early production ran from the basement of his West Akron home; the first full production pedal, the Hoof fuzz, appeared in 2007 and demand soon allowed full-time pedal building.

In 2011 Julie Robbins joined as CEO and the workshop left the basement for larger Akron premises. In 2015 the company renovated its present multi-thousand-square-foot Bowery Street building, where design remains centred on Stillman's circuits and pedals continue to be built by hand with a lifetime warranty.

Players comparing boutique fuzz, ambient delay and unusual modulation options often meet EarthQuaker as a US-made line with a wide, idiosyncratic pedal range rather than a single flagship circuit.
