Gain is fixed, so the guitar does the shaping. Full guitar volume gives the heaviest distortion. Backing off slightly gives a rougher overdrive, and low settings give a lightly broken-up clean.
A guitar with separate volume and tone controls per pickup can work as a three-channel setup. Each pickup position then gives its own gain level and tone through the selector switch.
The output is very loud, so the level knob needs care when first switching on. The V2 uses relay-based true bypass, which means audio does not pass without power. Jacks sit on the top edge of the enclosure.
