Freqscene Cleanless is a distortion pedal that builds on the Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal circuit with extra controls and an independent boost. The pedal is built to order by a one-person workshop.

Changes to the original include a dedicated Mid control next to Lo and Hi. The tone stack can then move from scooped to forward voicings. A parallel clean blend mixes the direct signal back in, which can keep attack when playing bass or low tunings. A clipping switch selects either the stock HM-2 clipping or a modified diode arrangement in the drive and crossover stages.
A separate JFET boost sits after the distortion section and can run alone or together with it. Its full-range response suits bass as well as guitar. Custom 3D-printed knobs and relay-based footswitches complete the build, and the name refers to the album Loveless by My Bloody Valentine.
