MXR Dyna Comp, also written Dynacomp, is a compressor pedal that evens out picking dynamics with just two controls and a fixed attack and release. The M102 is the standard full-size version, with a block MXR logo on a red enclosure.

The circuit dates from the 1970s. The current M102 has true hardwire bypass and a status LED. Its response to pick attack is faster and more aggressive than that of the earlier script-logo units.
Sensitivity sets the amount of compression, and Output sets the final level. With no attack, blend or tone control, the character stays fixed: notes start with a short snap, then sustain longer as they decay. That squash is common in country chicken picking, funk rhythm parts and clean arpeggios.
Higher Sensitivity settings also lift background noise and hiss, especially with single-coil pickups. Many players keep Sensitivity moderate or place a noise gate in the chain. Owners wanting parallel blend or attack control usually look at other compressors.
