On the album, Billie Joe Armstrong recorded through two heavily modified amps: one scooped with high gain, the other with a defined midrange. MXR measured those amps and rebuilt both as pedal circuits. Blend sets the ratio between the High Gain and Crunch sections, as the band did when mixing each track.
Gain, Tone and Output act on the overall sound, and Output can be raised with low gain for a clean boost. The Scoop button cuts midrange from the combined signal. Two internal trim pots set the gain and volume of the Crunch section, so its contribution can be tailored.
