About Crazy Tube Circuits
Ntaifotis started by building pedals for his own rig, beginning with modified versions of existing boost, fuzz and distortion circuits, and moved on to his own designs in 2004. The name comes from a nickname his friends gave him, the ‘crazy tube guy’, because he collected new-old-stock valves and valve amps. The first Crazy Tube Circuits pedal was the Black Magic, first called Dr Boogie, a JFET design modelled on a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier.
Most of the range is solid-state but aims for the response of a valve amplifier. The Space Charged Overdrive is the only model with a valve inside. The pedals are built by hand, and the circuits are original takes on classic sounds rather than straight clones.
