The brand began in 2004 as the custom pedal shop of Tone Factor in Evans, Louisiana. Brad Fee turned that shop into Mojo Hand FX around 2008, and the business later moved to Texas, where it built pedals based on classic circuits with practical changes for modern players. The name nods to a Lightnin’ Hopkins lyric about going to Louisiana to get a mojo hand.
Fee sold Mojo Hand to Cusack Music in 2015, and production moved to Michigan. The hand-print logo was flipped to a right hand to echo the shape of the state. Cusack runs Mojo Hand as a separate, vintage-inspired line next to its own Cusack pedals. It has kept older favourites and added new designs, such as the Octaverse reverse octave delay launched in 2022.
