Wren and Cuff
Wren and Cuff is a boutique effects pedal maker based in Newbury Park, California, on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Founder Matthew (Matt) Holl started the company in 2006 as a part-time hobby building guitar and bass effects, made it his full-time business in 2007 and took on staff as demand grew.

The company is best known for part-for-part recreations of vintage Big Muff-style fuzz circuits, which make up most of its catalogue: models include the Tri Pie '70, Eye See '78 (based on the 1978 op-amp Muff), Box of War, Caprid, Fade Font '94 and the Tall Font Russian. The Tall Font Russian, one of Holl's first replication-based designs, was built from component values measured on an original Sovtek-era 'Tall Font' Muff rather than from a schematic alone, and has been in the range since the late 2000s.
The range also includes the Pickle Pie B, a Muff-type bass distortion with a clean blend; the Your Face 60's and 70's, Ace Octave Fuzz and Hangman-2D distortion and fuzz pedals; the Phat Phuk B booster and Two-Five Drive Boost; and compact Small Foot and Mini Series versions of several circuits. Artist collaborations include the J Mascis Garbage Face, which pairs a recreation of the Dinosaur Jr guitarist's favourite Muff with a germanium treble boost, and ANNA, a drive and op-amp fuzz pedal made with Coheed and Cambria's Claudio Sanchez.
Pedals are hand-assembled with through-hole components, use true hard-wire bypass via 3PDT footswitches and carry a lifetime warranty, and a custom shop takes one-off builds. Because most models target a specific vintage Muff version, the catalogue is a useful reference for players comparing Big Muff generations.
