Wah
Tech 21 Killer Wail V2 is a light-sensor wah pedal that replaces the usual potentiometer with an optical sensor inside a machined billet-aluminium housing. The filter changes both the frequency and the Q, which is the sharpness of the peak, to follow vintage wah behaviour.
No potentiometer or mechanical contact sits in the signal path, so the sweep avoids scratchy noises and wear in the moving parts. Rocking the treadle toe down boosts the high frequencies, and heel down boosts the lows.
A silent-switching buffered actuator turns the effect on and off, and an LED shows the state in red or blue. A large bolt and nut on the side set how tight the treadle feels under the foot.
Tech 21 also builds the Richie Kotzen Signature Killer Wail, with a spring-loaded rocker that engages automatically, and the Killer Blue Wail for bass.
