A standard flanger cycles its delay time up and then down again. Through-zero flanging lets the delayed copy pass the dry signal in time, which creates a deep cancellation at the turning point. The Wave control picks an upward cycle, a through-zero cycle at its centre or a downward cycle.
Speed runs from very slow movement to very fast sweeps. Regen adds negative regeneration left of centre and positive regeneration right of centre, with none at the middle. Negative settings sound hollow, while positive settings move towards a phaser-like sweep.
Bypass is true bypass, and the pedal is handmade in Portland, Oregon. The Shepard's End Sub-Zero is a separate model.

Flanger
Mr. Black Shepard's End is a through-zero flanger whose sweep keeps rising or falling instead of moving up and back down. This barber-pole effect gives the impression of an endless sweep in one direction.
