Strymon Volante is a stereo delay pedal that models multi-head magnetic echo machines, with drum, tape and reel-to-reel studio echo types. Released in 2019, it adds a spring reverb and a Sound on Sound looper.

Four playback heads sit at the centre of the panel. Each head can play at full or half volume, feed back into the record head, and take its own stereo pan position. Spacing moves the heads between even, triplet, golden-ratio and silver-ratio layouts.
Record Level drives an analogue JFET preamp into the record head, from clean to saturated repeats. Mechanics adds speed wobble and media faults such as splices, while Wear dulls the high end. The Speed switch runs the media at half, normal or double speed, which also shifts the delay range.
In Sound on Sound mode, the footswitches reverse, pause or splice the loop. Eight presets are available from the panel, and MIDI extends that to 300. The dry path stays fully analogue.
