Hard-clipping diodes after the gain stage give a square-edged distortion that still covers mild overdrive at low Distortion settings. The Filter is a low-pass control: turn it clockwise to roll off highs, or counter-clockwise to keep more of the guitar’s brightness for cutting through a mix.

Players use the RAT2 as a primary dirt channel, as a dirty boost into a loud clean amp, or as a solo boost on top of an amp’s own drive. Gain range reaches from crunch into fuzzy saturation without a separate mode switch.

Build details include a steel chassis, status LED, industrial footswitch, and a tool-free door on the base. Glow-in-the-dark control labels mark Distortion, Filter, and Volume on the face.
