Compressor · Boost · Released 1 January 2020
Studio mode gives smooth, transparent compression modelled on vintage studio rack units. Squeeze mode delivers the harder, sustaining effect of classic guitar compressors. Auto threshold and auto makeup gain mean the Compression knob does most of the work.
The boost comes after the compressor and can be clean or dirty. Dirty boost adds diode soft clipping, much like a light overdrive. A three-way EQ switch selects a treble, mid or flat boost curve, and a Dry knob blends in uncompressed signal to keep pick attack.
The audio path is fully analogue, from the Class A JFET input to the VCA compressor. Digital control adds expression-pedal volume, a recallable favourite and up to 300 MIDI presets. Full low-frequency response makes the pedal suitable for bass as well as guitar.
Strymon Compadre is a compressor and boost pedal that puts two analogue compression voices and a separate boost circuit in one enclosure. Both sections can run together or on their own, each with its own footswitch.
