Hagerman Amplification Vulture Skull is a tube overdrive pedal built around a vintage new-old-stock television tube, a 6U8A or equivalent. The triode works as a clean gain stage and the pentode as the clipping stage.

Two footswitches, Bypass and Boost, select between a clean channel and an overdrive channel. With only the pedal engaged it works as a clean tube preamp. Boost ground-lifts the Voice and Drive controls and pushes the pentode into saturation for the overdrive sound. Voice and Drive sit between the two stages, with Tone and Level after the clipping stage.
The pedal also accepts 6EA8, 6AN8A, 6LN8, 6JW8, 6KD8 and 6GH8A tubes. An internal 66V supply feeds the tube for real plate voltage and headroom. Allow about 30 seconds of warm-up before playing.
