JHS Angry Charlie V3 is a distortion pedal that recreates JCM800-style British amp tones with a three-band, Marshall-style tone stack. The third version adds that EQ section and moves to a red enclosure.

Drive and Volume interact like the gain and master controls of a master-volume amp head. With the Drive turned low, the pedal gives a bluesy, vintage-style breakup. Higher settings reach the aggressive high-gain sounds that made the circuit popular.
Bass, Middle and Treble are active controls that boost and cut their frequency bands. They help the pedal suit different amps and guitars. Rolling back the guitar's volume lowers the gain while keeping clarity.
Earlier versions differ in layout and controls. Version 1 used a larger enclosure with three controls, while version 2 moved to the current size and added a Presence control. Version 3 has five controls in a U-shaped layout.
