Volume, Comp and Blend set the output level, the amount of compression and the wet and dry balance. The EQ knob is an active high cut and boost that darkens or brightens the overall tone.

A small Dirt toggle adds a light overdrive on top of the compression. A side-mounted trim sets how much gain the Dirt circuit adds.

Version 4 arrived in 2016 and added the EQ, the Dirt switch and the XLR output. A 2020 update removed the buffer switch in favour of an always-on buffer and soft-touch buffered bypass. For a fuller preamp and EQ, the Colour Box V2 takes a console-style approach.
