JHS Unicorn V2 is a photocell vibe pedal that adds tap tempo to an all-analogue Uni-Vibe-style circuit. The V2 arrived in spring 2018 in a smaller enclosure than the 2015 original.

A bulb and photocells modulate the signal as in the vintage Shin-ei units. The result is the throbbing, phase-like pulse heard on many late-1960s records.
A Dry/Wet toggle chooses vibe, which mixes in the dry signal, or vibrato, which plays the wet pitch-shifting signal alone. Speed sets the rate, while the second footswitch taps it in. The Ratio knob turns the tapped tempo into quarter notes, dotted eighths or triplets.
A side TRS jack accepts an expression pedal for rate control or an external tap source. An internal switch sets which function the jack serves. A tap LED shows the tempo even when the effect is off.
