The backlight colour can be set globally or tied to individual tuning presets, which makes a preset recognisable at a glance. In direct sunlight, the strobe and note name turn monochrome and remain readable.

More than 100 Sweetened Tunings offset small pitch errors common to particular instruments, from 12-string and baritone guitar to pedal steel. Guided Tunings show string numbers instead of note names, which speeds up switching between alternate tunings.

A mode switch in the battery compartment selects true bypass, buffered output or monitor mode. True bypass uses timed relays that drain the signal before switching, removing the usual pop. Settings and custom colours can also be edited in the Peterson Connect software.
