The circuit runs three new-old-stock germanium PNP transistors with a NOS germanium diode and an on-board transformer. Four controls sit on the front panel: Sustain, Tone, Volume and Bias.
The circuit is voiced as a full fuzz. It does not clean up, and it is not designed for subtle, low-gain settings.
The EAO first existed as a handful of hardwired builds. A short run of pink EAO units followed, built with turret construction in reproduction folded-steel MkI Tone Bender-style enclosures with Panasonic and Vishay capacitors and carbon composition resistors. The standard version moves the same circuit into a conventional ThorpyFX enclosure with side-panel artwork.
