Peter Honoré co-designed the Durple with Tone City, taking the Mandragora overdrive as the starting point. The Tone control is also more restrained than on the Mandragora, so the pedal stays usable with Tone turned fully up.
Mid cuts or boosts the mid-range, so settings run from a smooth, scooped drive to a punchy, aggressive crunch. Several owners use it as a mid-focused boost in front of an existing crunch tone, and others as a stand-alone drive.
The pedal is true bypass and sits in a compact metal enclosure that suits small pedalboards. Tone City also makes a dual version, the Double Durple.
