Multi-Effects · Reverb · Delay · Chorus · Granular · Released 16 January 2025
Walrus Audio Qi Etherealizer is a stereo multi-effects pedal that combines chorus, delay, a granular sampler and reverb, developed with guitarist Yvette Young. Released in January 2025, it was the first Walrus Audio pedal built on the in-house MDSP digital platform.
A Flow button routes the effects in series or parallel. In series, chorus feeds delay, then grain, then reverb, and the Mix/Dry knob sets the wet-dry balance. In parallel, each effect processes the dry input separately and each Mix knob works as a level fader. Reverb and the resonant low-pass Tone act only on the wet effects.
Grain Cloud fires short samples at random, while Phrase Sample triggers them from picking peaks for a rhythmic pattern. Playback runs normal, octave up, octave down, reversed or randomised. The Freeze switch holds the grain buffer as a loop, and a long press ramps the reverb to full for a pad.
Three presets plus a live mode are stored on the pedal, with up to 127 reachable over MIDI. There is no expression input, and the series order is fixed. Two finishes exist: terracotta with Yvette Young artwork, and matte black with cream ink.
