MDP analyses the incoming signal in real time. Register, single notes versus chords and playing dynamics are processed separately, so distortion stays defined across the whole neck.
The four knobs are Level, Low, High and Dist. Low, High and Dist each move several internal parameters at once, which makes broad tonal changes quick to dial in. The pedal responds to picking strength and to the guitar's volume control.
Noise stays very low even at high gain settings. The familiar BOSS compact enclosure carries chrome knobs and a chrome control plate, and the bypass is buffered.
