Sounds are grouped into 11 types, including leads, pads, basses, strings, organs, bells, effects and sequenced patterns. Each type has 11 variations, giving 121 sounds without any programming. A Guitar/Bass switch sets the engine for the instrument in use.
Because the processing is polyphonic, chords work as well as single notes. Two concentric knobs shape the chosen sound, one adjusting tone or rate and one depth. Separate Effect and Direct levels blend synth and dry guitar.
A send and return loop places other pedals in parallel with the synth, such as a drive on the dry path. The send also works as a direct out for split rigs. Holding the pedal switch sustains the last synth sound, and an external footswitch or expression pedal adds tap tempo, octave shift or Tone/Rate control.
