Fuzz · Octave · Released 1 January 2026
JHS Coyote is an octave fuzz that recreates the Moonrock Fuzz, a rare circuit by North Carolina builder Glenn S. Wyllie. JHS released it in 2026 as a tribute to Wyllie, who died in 2014.

Most octave fuzzes descend from the Octavia, Super Fuzz or Tone Machine. The Moonrock follows none of them. A transformer sits in the circuit, but it does not generate the octave. Instead it shapes how the fuzz stage responds.
One knob sweeps through three zones. Fully anticlockwise gives a gated swell, with notes fading in like reversed tape. Noon gives a full fuzz in Tone Bender territory, and fully clockwise adds an aggressive octave-up.
Lower settings of the main knob react strongly to picking and to the guitar's volume control. The pedal is meant to sit first in the chain, feeding an overdrive or a driven amp.
