Line 6 HX Stomp XL is a pedal-format amp and effects processor that runs HX Stomp's modelling engine with eight capacitive-touch footswitches. The extra switches are the main difference from the smaller HX Stomp.
One SHARC DSP chip, the same type used in Helix, runs up to eight processing blocks at once. Blocks can be amps, cabs, effects or third-party impulse responses. Signal paths can be split into parallel stereo routes, and two effects loops bring outside pedals into the chain.
Touching a footswitch selects its block for editing, while coloured LED rings show assignments. Snapshots store up to four variations inside one preset and switch between them without the gap of a preset change. Pedal Edit mode lets you adjust parameters with your feet.
Presets from HX Stomp, Helix and HX Effects load as long as they use eight blocks or fewer on one DSP path. The volume knob sits on the rear panel and can be pushed into the chassis. The unit also works as a multichannel USB audio interface with re-amping.
