Rodenberg SL-OD is a Steve Lukather signature pedal that houses a low-gain overdrive, a high-gain overdrive and a boost in one enclosure. Lukather and Uli Rodenberg developed the sound together.
The signal runs from the low-gain overdrive into the high-gain overdrive and then the boost. Each overdrive has Level, Tone and Drive, plus a bass boost toggle. The boost has Level and Tone, a bass toggle and a +20 dB switch.
A Locked switch ties the two overdrives together. One footswitch press then swaps between low and high gain. In front of a clean amp the pedal reaches high gain without turning into heavy distortion. In front of a driven amp it tightens the sound for leads.
All three sections can run at once, so the level controls need balancing. Maximum settings on every channel produce very high output. Each section has mechanical true bypass switching.
