Rodenberg SL-OD Deluxe Redline is a Steve Lukather signature pedal that adds a momentary distortion mode to an overdrive, distortion and boost. Lukather and Uli Rodenberg developed the sound together.
The overdrive covers low to high gain and has Gain and Fat preset switches. The distortion has a Tight switch, and the boost has Fat and +20 dB switches. A Pre/Post switch places the boost before or after the two drive sections.
The Locked switch ties overdrive and distortion together, so one footswitch press swaps between them. With Push enabled, the distortion stays on only while its footswitch is held, including in Locked mode. Soft-touch footswitches and mechanical true bypass with noise suppression keep switching close to silent.
Into a clean amp, the pedal reaches high gain without turning into extreme distortion. Into a driven amp, it adds gain and focus for leads. All three sections can run at once, so the level controls need balancing. The Push momentary mode is what separates the Redline from the standard SL-OD Deluxe.
