Fuzz
ZVEX Fuzz Factory Vexter is a fuzz pedal with five knobs that reach from tightly gated fuzz to self-oscillation. It is the printed-graphics edition of the Fuzz Factory, and the parts inside match the hand-painted model.
The circuit uses two unused germanium transistors from the 1960s and is not modelled on any classic fuzz design. The knobs are named for the parameters they seem to affect most, but they set operating levels and biases, so they interact.
Gate squelches noise at the end of a note. Compress adds attack when turned left and pinches the tone when turned fully right. Stab is normally kept fully clockwise, and lower settings bring squeals and a softer fuzz.
Settings range from gated, velcro-like fuzz to radio-like tones and octave-like intermodulation. The pedal uses true bypass and has an on/off LED.
