Gain works on the feedback loop of the first op-amp stage, while Level sets the output and Tone trims the treble. The wide gain range and switching options aim the design at always-on use.
The Diode toggle switches hard-clipping diodes in or out. Down gives an open, uncompressed drive, while up gives a compressed distortion that needs more Level to match volume. The Mids toggle swaps a flat midrange for a mid boost that helps a guitar cut through a mix.
Internal trims set the bass response and LED brightness. The signal path is fully analogue with true bypass, and top-mounted jacks save space on a crowded board.

Overdrive
Awestruck Amplification Metro is a mid-gain op-amp overdrive that follows the low-colouration approach of Paul Cochrane's designs. Two toggles let it move away from that neutral voice when needed.
