Fuzz
Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Pi is an analog fuzz that packs the NYC Big Muff Pi circuit into a nano-sized enclosure. The maker states that it works and sounds identical to the classic Big Muff Pi.
Volume, Tone, and Sustain cover output level, treble-to-bass balance, and the amount of sustain and distortion. The Tone control sweeps from high treble voices to deeper bass-heavy settings, which is how players move between singing leads and thicker rhythm walls on the same pedal.
Sustained notes compress into the long, violin-like decay associated with Big Muff circuits. The mid scoop that comes with that voicing can sit low in a dense band mix, so many players place a mid-focused overdrive ahead of it when they need more cut.
Released in 2013, the Nano version keeps true bypass switching and a mono signal path in a compact chassis aimed at crowded boards.
