Released in 2018 for the maker’s 50th anniversary, it keeps the triangular Volume, Sustain, and Tone layout that gave the original its nickname. The reissue adds a status LED and true bypass while aiming at the early circuit’s long sustain and scooped midrange behaviour.
Compared with later Big Muff variants, owners often describe this reissue as bassier and more open, with a deeper mid scoop that can sit low in a dense band mix. Many players pair a mid-focused overdrive ahead of it when they need more cut.
Signal path is mono. The pedal is a current production reissue of the first Big Muff era, not a vintage 1969 unit, and sits in the same nano footprint as other EHX Big Muff reissues.
