Boss EX-4 Effects Expander announced for existing pedalboards
Boss announces the EX-4 Effects Expander: four simultaneous effects from a 120-effect library.

Boss has announced the EX-4 Effects Expander, a compact multi-effects unit that adds up to four simultaneous processors from a 120-effect library to an existing pedalboard. A Boss press release announces the unit.

According to the official product page, the library covers overdrive and distortion, modulation, delay, and reverb, plus bass-oriented effects and Boss types such as Slow Gear and Slicer. Utility blocks — foot volume, two noise suppressors, send/return, and divider/mixer — can sit anywhere in the chain, with a separate global EQ. Manual and Memory modes support stompbox-style or preset use, with 128 factory and 128 user memories; Gear Suite offers factory-tuned starting points per effect type from a dedicated knob.
Hardware centres on a 2.4-inch colour graphic LCD, four FX buttons, and dual multi-function footswitches ringed by colour LEDs. Mono or stereo I/O uses four 1/4-inch jacks, two of which can form an effect loop so external pedals sit inside the EX-4 chain. Extra control comes via CTL/EXP, miniature TRS MIDI, and USB Type-C. Boss lists the footprint at 117 × 138 × 63 mm (65 mm with rubber feet) and weight at 800 g. Regional pricing outside the US is not listed on the press page.
