Helix Stadium 1.4 splits the Plexi into twelve channels by year

The Eras Update brings a year-by-year Superlead model, a Granophyre and a Mercator drive to Helix Stadium, plus USB editing and Showcase stem splitting.

Twelve channels, one amp block. Helix Stadium 1.4 models the Marshall Plexi Superlead as it stood in 1967, 1968, 1970 and 1971, and gives each era its own Normal, Bright and Jumped channels. Line 6 calls the firmware “The Eras Update”, and it lands on the Helix Stadium XL, Helix Stadium Floor and the Helix Stadium Native plugin.

That model is the Brit SL100, and an Era knob moves it between the four Superlead years. Sound design manager Ben Adrian explains that the circuit gained preamp gain and a brighter bright channel over time, and that playing the later eras felt less like extra treble and more like a treble booster in front: more upper-mid crunch, tighter lows. A Bright Cap control lets you pick from no cap or four common values, a nod to a classic mod. Alongside it come a model based on the Omega Ampworks Granophyre and the Prosecutor, the first Line 6 Original amp built on Agoura, refined from the HX-era Litigator. Line 6 counts 14 new Agoura channels in all.

For pedal people, the six new effects are the draw. Mercator turns the Cartographer amp’s tube preamp into a standalone distortion with an active three-band EQ, which Adrian built because he kept running that preamp as a drive in front of clean amps. Rock Box Dist and Rock Box Boost are based on the two sides of the Z.Vex Box of Rock, PortaBox 424 on the JHS 424 Gain Stage, Essex Vibe on the vibrato of a Vox AC-30 with Top Boost, and Dimension W on the BOSS DC-2W Waza Craft.

The workflow changes are just as practical. The Helix Stadium app can now edit over USB as well as Wi-Fi. Showcase can split a single audio file into five stems through Yamaha’s Music Connect service and skip marked song sections. Effects swap between mono and stereo with settings kept, and each Matrix mixer layer gets its own MIDI CCs for personal monitor mixes. Line 6 says blocks now report DSP use more accurately, which can free room for more blocks. On the floor units, update the Helix Stadium app too; the full list is in the 1.4 release notes.
