ThorpyFX EAO moves its Buzzaround fuzz into the standard Thorpy box
Three NOS germanium transistors, a germanium diode and a transformer put Thorpy's Buzzaround tribute into the regular ThorpyFX range.

EAO stands for Explodes All at Once, and ThorpyFX isn't joking. The EAO is Thorpy's take on the Burns Buzzaround, a germanium circuit he counts among his favourites ever. His own summary is blunt: it doesn't clean up, it isn't subtle, and it has a savagery far ahead of its time. ThorpyFX calls them instant plug-in-and-grin pedals.
It took a detour to get here. Thorpy first built a handful of these hardwired, then liked the circuit too much to leave it as a one-off and moved it into a standard Thorpy enclosure. Along the way came a tiny run of pink EAOs built to look and sound old, with reproduction folded-steel MkI Tone Bender-style boxes, turret construction, carbon comp resistors and battery-only power. The black version is the one that joins the regular range.

The parts list is short and old-school. Three new-old-stock germanium PNP transistors do the work, backed by a NOS germanium diode and an on-board transformer. ThorpyFX's photos show four knobs in alternating pink and blue, Sustain, Tone, Volume and Bias, plus explosion artwork that wraps right around the side panels.
Like the rest of the range, it's hand-built in-house in Brackley, England, with through-hole parts, and every pedal is tested through a valve amp before it ships.
The EAO shows as in stock on the ThorpyFX EAO product page.
