Jade Electric Blackboard puts a clean blend on a working-player drive
A Bakersfield builder founded in 2025 adds Clean Blend and a two-band EQ to its Blackboard Outlaw Overdrive, a hand-built drive for gigging guitarists.

Most of the story on the Blackboard Outlaw Overdrive sits in one knob. Clean Blend feeds the unaffected guitar signal back in under the drive, and it is the headline control on the newest pedal from Jade Electric Pedals, a Bakersfield, California, builder founded in 2025.
Jade Electric bills it as a pedal made by a working musician, for working musicians, aimed at players who want drive without covering up what their guitar and amp already do. The maker says the blend keeps pick attack and definition intact as the gain climbs.
The gain range starts at a clean country push and runs to a full, cutting overdrive. Treble and Bass form a two-band EQ for tightening the low end, adding bite or taming a bright rig, with Level and Drive alongside. Each one is hand-built in Bakersfield.
The founder spent more than a decade playing stages and bars before moving from modifying circuits to designing them, and describes the goal as pedals without unnecessary features or gimmicks. The Blackboard joins the J-6 Natural Overdrive and the Bloom Breaker in the current line-up.
The pedal uses true bypass with an LED status light and needs a 9 V DC centre-negative supply, since there is no battery option. The full spec list is on our Blackboard product page.
